Dillard's
In November 2002, Guy Wills III was caught on the department store's security camera attempting to shoplift a leather coat. The security guard that evening was off-duty Maple Heights police officer, Jameel Talley. He confronted Wills, took him into the back hallway of the store, and then slammed him head first into the floor. Wills died later that night. A jury convicted Talley of involuntary manslaughter and he is currently serving three years in prison. Dillard's has agreed to pay Wills' parents and his four children a $2.8 million wrongful death settlement. (Sep-08-05)
