Roman Catholic Church Diocese of Antigonish faces class action over abuse by a priest

The brother of David Martin, who took his life as a result of abuse suffered at the hands of a Roman Catholic Priest, has filed a class action lawsuit against the Diocese of Antigonish, claiming it failed to protect children from abuse, even after they became aware of the abuse.

David Martin left behind a note that lead to the investigation of former priest Hugh Vincent MacDonald, and inferred charges of rape, buggers and indecent assault. MacDonald, was facing 27 charges when he died in 2004.

The lawsuit alleges that MacDonald and other priests were abusing children in their care between 1962 and the present.
