TV started having problems within a year, and at 13 months would not remain functional; currently is not working at all even after two bulb replacements.

Defendant: Toshiba DLP Television (defective product)

Before the one year warranty was up, our bulb blew. We paid to replace it, and that bulb lasted until the unit was 13 months old. The TV sat for months before we found out Toshiba was offering a one bulb replacement in the first year. Since we had paid for our first replacement, Toshiba sent us another bulb. We replaced the second bulb with the bulb from Toshiba, and the TV worked for a short time. Then the TV started shutting off during use, and rebooting. In March of this year, we took the TV to an "Authorized Toshiba Service Representative" to have the TV diagnosed and repaired. They claimed the Light Engine was bad, and needed to be replaced. Even though there was a $600.00 charge for a new Light Engine, we decided to have the set fixed, due to the overall cost of the TV. For almost four months we were told that this company could not get this part from Toshiba. It was on "Back Order". After four months, this company called and said they had found another supplier of the Light Engine part, and would order it through them. Two more months later, this company called us to inform us that the replacement part also did not work. They told us they did not know what else they could do for us. So now we are stuck with a $2500.00 TV that has not worked for well over a year.
