Jose Perez, Carlos Bonilla, and Michael Medlin filed their lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday March 21, 2008 and are demanding $15 million in compensatory and punitive damages. They allege that when they approached Kid Rock and his group with notebooks, Kid Rock and his rappers attacked them, leaving them on the ground with serious injuries while the group of them drove off. According to the court documents, the plaintiffs were also holding a pocket camera in hopes to get a picture of Kid Rock.
They allege that Kid Rock and the Boo-Yaa tribe, his hip-hop group, assaulted them on March 22, 2006 outside of a Los Angeles club called Teddy's. Listed as defendants in the case according to the court documents are Ted, Paul, Danny and David Devoux, Donald, Roscoe, and Kid Rock. They also allege that the group stole personal items such as cameras, bags, and other personal items that the plaintiffs had in their hands. They state that the items that were taken from them were thrown into the back of Kid Rock's limousine before the plaintiffs drove off.

The plaintiffs are also claiming that some of the fault lies on the shoulders of the Roosevelt Hotel, which is where the club is located, because of their poor security system. They allege that the inadequate security system left them in a situation that was hazardous and dangerous.
Ironically, on March 11, 2008 Kid rock signed autographs at a Waffle House in Duluth, Georgia to make amends for a 2007 skirmish that he was allegedly involved in at one of the chain's locations. On March 3, 2008 Kid Rock entered a plea of not guilty to the charges against him as a result of the Waffle House confrontation.
