United Rentals Settles Class Actions for $27.5 Million

America's largest construction equipment rental company has settled 3 class action lawsuits for $27.5 million.

In 2004 United Rentals was sued following a Securities and Exchange Commission accounting probe, by investors who bought securities in the company between February 28, 2001 and August 30, 2004.

United Rental's insurance carriers will pay part of the settlement and associated defense costs.
