City of Fargo Reaches Settlement in Traffic Fines Class Action
More than 53,000 drivers who received traffic fines that exceeded the limits set by North Dakota law, have received letters by mail, advising them of a potential settlement to the class action lawsuit they joined against the City of Fargo.
The settlement is for a proposed $1.5 million which will likely work out to up to 65 cents per dollar paid in traffic fines that exceeded the legal limit.
The deadline for plaintiffs to decide whether or not they wish to be part of this settlement is November 2, 2009. Final approval of the settlement will be decided in Fargo U.S. District Court at a hearing on Nov. 30.
