New Orleans, LA: A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed on behalf of Milan Arthur Barackman who died recently from asbestos mesothelioma. The suit alleges he was exposed to the lethal carcinogen more than thirty years ago.
Michael Mason, representative of the succession of the Mr. Barackman, named Foster Wheeler, General Electric Co., Owens-Illinois Inc., Rapid American Corp., Uniroyal Inc., Viacom Inc. and Riley Power Inc. as defendants in the lawsuit.
In the asbestos lawsuit, Mason alleges that Mr. Barackman suffered asbestos exposure while he was aboard United States Navy vessels from approximately 1966 until the late 1970s. The exposure was a result of asbestos dust emanating throughout the USS Rehoboth, the USNS Albert J. Meyer, the USNS Flyer, the USNS Wyman, the USNS Kingsport and the Sgt. Alfred Schoup, the lawsuit states. Barackman was diagnosed with asbestos mesothelioma in 2010.
The lawsuit accuses the defendants of producing an unreasonably dangerous product, failing to warn, strict products liability, defective design and breach of implied and expressed warranties. (Louisianarecord.com)
Charleston, WV: A couple from Kentucky has filed an asbestos lawsuit against 135 companies which they claim are responsible for Edward A. Reed’s diagnosis of asbestos mesothelioma.
Reed, who was diagnosed with asbestos disease in March 2011, alleges he was a smoker from the 1950s until the 1970s, but then quit. He alleges that defendants failed to warn him of the danger of asbestos, which he was exposed to from 1956 until 1992.
The defendants are being sued upon theories of negligence, contaminated buildings, breach of expressed/implied warranty, strict liability, intentional tort, conspiracy, misrepresentation and post-sale duty to warn, according to the lawsuit.

Charleston, WV: 87 companies have been named as defendants by a woman who claims they are responsible for her husband’s asbestosis and death.
According to Mrs. Barron’s lawsuit, her husband, Junior E. Barron, was diagnosed with asbestosis and died on June 4, 2010. Barbara Barron claims the defendants exposed her husband to asbestos and failed to properly, adequately and safely label the asbestos products to which Junior E. Barron was exposed, which resulted in his illness and death.
Barbara Barron is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. The 87 defendants named in the suit are: A.W. Charleston, WV: Larry Macon McCommack, who was diagnosed with lung cancer on February 14, has filed an asbestos lawsuit naming 72 companies as defendants. McCommack alleges the defendants caused him to be exposed to asbestos and/or asbestos-containing products which resulted in his illness.
Further, McCommack claims the defendants failed to warn him of the asbestos and/or asbestos-containing products’ harmful nature. He claims he was exposed to the products from 1964 until 1995.

Charleston, WV: Norfolk Southern Railway Company is being sued by a man from Kentucky who claims it was through their actions that he developed asbestos mesothelioma.
Edward A. Reed was employed by the railway from 1956 until 1959 as a fireman in its Williamson, WV facility, according to the lawsuit. During that time, Reed claims he was exposed to toxic substances, including asbestos, which caused his asbestos mesothelioma diagnosis on March 11.
Reed claims that the railway failed to provide him with a reasonably safe place to work; failed to furnish him with safe and suitable tools and equipment; and failed to warn him of the true nature and hazardous effects of the asbestos. He is seeking judgment against the defendant in an amount in excess of the jurisdictional limitation. (WVRecord.com)
Charleston, WV: A woman who recently lost a family member to lung cancer is suing 47 companies she claims are responsible for Anna Lee Meade’s death.
Anna Meade was diagnosed with lung cancer on May 12, 2010, and subsequently died June 24, 2010, according to a complaint. Kathy Lee Frasure, who filed the lawsuit, claims Meade was exposed to asbestos because of her husband, who was employed by the defendants from 1947 until 1982.
The defendants are being sued based upon theories of negligence, contaminated buildings, breach of expressed/implied warranty, strict liability intentional tort, conspiracy, misrepresentations and post-sale duty to warn, according to the lawsuit.
