The video above, which shows some broken Ford spark plugs–or more specifically, broken spark plugs from a 2004 Ford F150 Triton 5.4L V8–also shows what the recent Ford spark plug class action lawsuit is all about. A quick surf around the internet found that Ford owners who’ve had this problem have paid bills of a few hundred dollars to $750 to $4,500 and who knows how much more to get the spark plug problem fixed.
So what’s the deal with the Ford spark plug class action lawsuit? Here’s the lowdown…
Reason for Ford Spark Plug Class Action Lawsuit
The Ford spark plug lawsuit claims that spark plugs in certain Ford models break during replacement. As a result, broken pieces or fragments of the defective spark plugs get stuck in the cylinder head, which has led to expensive repair shop bills in order to remove the broken spark plug pieces and/or repair damage to engines. The Ford spark plug class action lawsuit is a defective product lawsuit.
Ford did issue a Technical Service Bulletin (08-7-6) in 2008 which provided instruction (11 pages!) on how to properly remove the spark plugs.

I have a 2002 ford f-150 triton engine. 5.4.179,000 on it. Blown two plugs and coils already. One was a expensive fix and one was a cheap fix. Never buy a ford again.
i submit all documents and never received anything back
It’s been two years this month that I submitted my paperwork for my F150 broken off spark plugs. Have heard nothing back from anyone. This is a joke. Won’t buy a Ford again and either will my family again. We have always bought Ford’s not anymore.
Have a 2003 Ford Escape. A year ago it was running rough. I had a misfire on cylinder 4. So I replaced the front 3 spark plugs. When putting it back together, I connected 4 and 6 wires opposite of each other. I drove it for a few days not realizing what I did. That mistake caused converter to blow and a hole in EGR valve. I was told $2000 to fix. It sat for a while before I did the converter and replaced EGR valve myself. Vehicle ran great for about 5 months. Then 2 months ago I was driving and it started making a lawnmower noise. I nursed it back home. Hooked up my scanner and had a misfire on 3. When I took it apart, I noticed cylinder 3 coil was busted and spark plug missing. Re-threaded spark plug cylinder and new coil. Replaced valve cover gaskets and put new spark plugs and coils in all 6 cylinders. Engine light went off, vehicle doesnt have lawnmower sound anymore. But its still not running well. Its bogs while idling and upon acceleration. I had never even heard of this happening until it happened to me. To see its a big problem with Ford! Its terrible Ford wont rectify the situation!

Let’s not forget about the Lincoln and Mercury cars that came with the same piece of junk engines. The plastic intakes. The spark plugs shooting from the engines. No wonder there are so many good deals out there. I tell anyone that will listen, DO NOT mess with any of these vehicles. You are much better of with a Yugo or a bicycle. They will run much longer.
Same here the carbon build up on the spark plugs were so bad i had to go spend almost 400 dollars an a ford trident extraction tool. And then re tap the spark plug. Mercury moutaineer 05 4.6
DID NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE SPARK PLUG BREAKING OFF,UNSTILL TODAY.2-27-2020.I TRY TO CHANGE THEM ON TRUCK ,AND THEY BROKE OFF.MY TRUCK ARE AT CONWAY FORD IN CONWAY SC,DO NOT KNOW WHAT BILL ARE GOING TO BE.I UNDER STAND THAT THERE ARE A LAWSUIT ABOUT THAT NOW.MAYBE I CAN GET HELP WITH MY BILL.
I’ve had Ford’s since 1970. I bought this 2007 ford F150 XLT5.4 TRITON IN 2019. STARTED MISSFIRING SPRING of 2020. Took it in was told 7 plugs broke removing them. Was told this is a common problem. Most shops have a special tool to remove broken plugs. This shop couldn’t get all of them out. Told me the heads would have to come off and take the engine apart to get them out.COST 5,000 DOLLARS. Be cheaper to put another motor in. That was my only vehicle to get my spouse around who is disabled. I agree call FTC, BBB, GOVERNOR of your state. I’ve been renting for two months!
I have a 2005 Ford expedition with plugs breaking off has cost me a lot of money.
This is a problem with the 2010 F150 also. Have also had problem with door lock in rear door due to broken wires in door hinge area I believe due to the wire stiffener. Also got alarm due to what looked like when they cut the wire armor for installation at the tee going to the gas tank they sliced wiring. Over time the wires corroded and shorted. Also leaving Ford after years as a customer.
