I’m amazed at some of the stories out there from folks who are affected by this massive—hell, unprecedented—Toyota recall. There’s over 5.3 million affected Toyota owners out there, each with his or her own story of how the recall has affected them.
One I heard (or, overheard) yesterday: woman says she’s afraid she might lose her job because she doesn’t want to drive her car to work; apparently her commute is one hour each way… and I’m guessing she had no other means of getting to work other than her Toyota.
If you’ve got a Toyota recall story to share—whether it’s something that happened while you were driving, an issue you’ve had with Toyota or a Toyota dealership, or maybe just the sheer confusion you’re experiencing about whether your car is even safe to drive, let us know…
I have a 2005 Toyota Echo. A recall was issued for the floorboards rusting out. Two dealerships refused to do the recall work. Further, I was sold an extended warranty. Whe the engine failed, I brought the car into the Toyota dealership and Toyota refused to honor the warranty.
This Toyota recall does not matter if they refuse to do the work they, themself, recalled the car for.
I WAS 57WHEN I JUST GOT A NEW 2003 CAMY./TOYOTA NOV. 29 2004 I WAS AT SCHOOL LINE PICKING UP GRANDDAUGHTER .I STARTED MY CAR TO FIND IT WAS A RUNAWAY GAS PEDEL.IDROVE BETWEEN A FENCE AND A LINE OF CAR RIDERS.OVER TWO DITCHES STOP SIGN TOOK SOME OF THE FENCE SO THAT I WOULD MISS THE CARS. THE CAR FINAL CAME TO A STOP JUST BEFORE HITING THE TREES BUT THE CAR WAS STILL ROARING ,THE THING THAT STOPPED IT WAS GOD AND NO TIRES WERE LEFT ON IT. IN 2004 EVERY ONE SAID WELL WELL THATH COULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. IF TOYOTA HAD LISTEN THEN IT MIGHT NOT BE IN A MESS NOW .I CALL IT SWEPTING UNDER THE RUG.MY CAR WAS TOTALED ,NO DRING TCKET ,BUT MY INJURY WAS THERE AND HIGHER INSURANCE .NO ONE TOOK ACTION .
