2013 will prove to be the “Year of the Transvaginal Mesh Lawsuit”, if a quick look at the upcoming court dates is indicative of anything. The first TVM lawsuit to go to trial will be the multi-district litigation (MDL) In re: C.R. Bard, Inc., Pelvic Repair Systems Products Liability Litigation (MDL No. 2187), which heads to court in February.
Three more transvaginal mesh (also referred to as “transvaginal sling”) MDL’s start heading to court in 2013 as well–though later in the year, with the first slotted for December 3, 2013. Those cases are: In re: American Medical Systems, Inc., Pelvic Repair System Products Liability Litigation (MDL No. 2325); In re: Ethicon, Inc., Pelvic Repair Systems Products Liability Litigation (MDL No. 2327); and In re: Boston Scientific Corp., Pelvic Repair Systems Products Liability Litigation (MDL No. 2326).
This transvaginal mesh infographic shows the history of the medical implant and also the problems the mesh has faced (or, allegedly created) along the way. The depiction was created for the Rottenstein Law Group in NYC.
One of the biggest mistakes I ever made in my life was getting a bladder sling. I could hold my water long enough to make it to the restroom, now most ot the time when it feels like I gotta go it is already dripping. Where I used to get by with pantyiners, I now have to buy poise to ensure that my clothing do not get wet. My sex life disappeared because if was just too painful, so my husband decided to give up asking, he is very moody and angry a lot. He is mad at the doctor because he thinks it is his fault. The pains that I have sometime from just when using the restroom are awful. I would not wish my situation on my worst enemy. Ladies please do not let your doctor talk you into this surgery, you will surley regret it.
I have had this mesh inside of me for 8 years now. My synptoms started one month after my surgery. I have very little energy all of the time. My back and legs hurt. I have constant pelvic pain, bladder infections, fecal and urine incontience, wear pads all the time, lost all of my social life, lost my career, lost my male friend. I feel as if I have lost my entire life. My medical problems will only increase as time goes on.
Hi Barbara, Unfortunately, from the stories we've been hearing from TVM victims, you're not alone. I'm sorry to hear about all you've been going through–and you've been going through it for a very long time–no wonder you feel as though you've lost your entire life. You may want to consider submitting a complaint for an attorney to review–TVM lawsuits are still pending, and the first of the federal cases will be heading to trial soon, and others will follow throughout 2013. You can fill out a complaint form here: https://www.lawyersandsettlements.com/submit_form… Best of luck to you.
