The San Francisco Weekly reported that the workers were paid between $10 and $13 an hour, and said the workers often spent more than eight hours a day creating the toys.
The five plaintiffs listed four complaints in the suit: failure to pay overtime, failure to provide itemized wage statements, failure to timely pay wages due and unfair business practices.
California labor law protects employees from working excessive hours and ensuring they receive proper overtime pay as well as vacation and break times. Under current law, hours worked beyond eight hours per day qualify for overtime pay of one and one half times the regular hourly wage.
