Though Doisy's sister reported her missing on August 7, 1976, local police spent nine years investigating the case before having enough evidence to get a warrant for Wright. However, up until last week, authorities didn't know the location of the suspect.
Captain Greg Vaughn said that earlier this month, Wright allegedly applied for a driving job with a company that required a criminal background check, which brought up the decades-old warrant to local police.
When the suspect went to the Lawrenceville Police Department to pay for the background check, he was reportedly arrested in the lobby.
Wright is being held in Georgia on a $100,000 bond and is awaiting extradition to Missouri.
