Through the settlement, CVS will refund all customers who bought AirShield during a certain time frame.
"CVS has also agreed to pay $2.8 million to the FTC to cover the costs of a refund program for customers who purchased CVS AirShield from July 2005 through November 2008," the company said as quoted by Reuters.
David Vladeck, director of the FTC's Bureau of Consumer Protection, said this has been a common case with other pharmacy chains and should put these retailers "on notice that they have to tell the truth about what dietary supplements can and cannot do."
