Sears and LG Electronics announce Recall to repair approximately 20,000 Refrigerators
On June 29th, Sears Roebuck and Company of Hoffman Estates, Illinois and LG Electronics of Lincolnshire, Illinois, in conjunction with the Federal Government, announced the recall of approximately 20,000 LG and Kenmore Elite® Trio™ Three door refrigerators.
A faulty component in the condenser fan motor can short circuit, causing the motor to overheat and poses a fire hazard to consumers.
According to the recall notice, LG has received 82 reports of incidents involving a condenser fan motor failure due to this problem, specifically described as condenser arcing and smoking. There has been smoke damage in a few incidents, but the companies involved state they are not aware of any injuries.
All of the recalled refrigerators are three door models with capacities ranging from 21 to 25 cubic feet, with a bottom freezer. They come in titanium, stainless steel, bisque, white or black finishes. The units have the following model and serial numbers located on the data plate inside the fresh food section of the refrigerator door:

We spent over $7000. The refrigerator was about $2700, so you expect the refrigerator to last more than 6 1/2 years. We have already been told by a local service repair guy that the compressor is the issue and it’s covered under warranty.
Lost a lot of good and my husband is insulin dependent, so I have a small amount of food and insulin is mini frig. Sears repair service, which is probably in another country, provides a service time 8am-5pm, so you wait and wait….The technician sent me a text at 12:48pm stating, I’m on my way. I was able to track him and he was about 15 minutes from my house. 2 hours later I texted asking where are you? Are you lost? Tracking him, I could see he’s now at least an hour from my house, totally in the wrong directions. 30minutes later, he cancelled by service via text.
I’ve talked to multiple people in the last hour and they have no idea why he cancelled. This is unacceptable that the technician can’t at least call the numbers that were provided and explain what happen.
Please include me in the class action lawsuit. BTW after reading these comments, I now understand why the dishwasher leaks all over the floor, every time it’s ran it.

We had to have the compressor replaced after losing most of the food. We purchased another cheaper fridge to make sure we had something we could depend on. Repair was about $900. In door ice maker works when it feels like it
Bought a countertop ice maker that was relatively inexpensive again some to fall back on. Sworn by Kenmore in past but an expensive appliance fail like this has changed my mind

I am not happy that Kenmore and Lg companies tell me I have no recourse because the 2021 date has expired.
There are more of these appliances out there! Can not anything be done? My refrigerator was only 5 1/2 years old.

Mine is going to cost 1200 to fix I just passed the 5 year mark by 1 month so I have to pay for everything else buy supposedly the compressor. Of course the labor is high and there are other parts not covered by the 10 year replacement warranty

Called Sears Home Service for repair, they did not tell you that how much will cost the labor to replace the compressor, they just told you to schedule a Diagnostic that they will charge you a fee for $99.
I will buy a new refrigerator, maybe GE, Kitchenaid or Whirlpool.

I've had the compressor blow out 3 times and now can not get it to work at all.
I also have the Kenmore appliance insurance and they refuse to pay for a new one. I got screwed. I was never told about the recall.
I am not paying the monthly fee and canceling my insurance because it is worthless.

We bought Kenmore 795.72595.710 in June 2018; on October 21, 2022 the unit stopped cooling! I called Kenmore Customer Care. I have to pay $119 for them to come look at it. This will be applied to my repairs if I accept the estimate. I read that repairs can range from $500-$1,000. This is in addition to all of the food I had to throw away. I spoke with a local repair company and he said Kenmore has sold approx. 1 million units that are bad. Are they not taking ownership of this and making it right?!? Sears/Kenmore & LG need to be held accountable for knowingly selling defective equipment.

model 795.73157.610 with a Kenmore elite dishwasher, microwave and Kenmore range 11/2016.
Microwave broke down soon after 1d year warranty (not included in the 5 year warranty. Just went and bought a different brand to replace.
June 2019 the compressor went out on the refrigerator. Waited 2 weeks for an appointment. Bought the 5 year warranty on refrigerator and dishwasher purchases. Therefore compressor replacement not costing $ but allot of aggravation with contacts and wait for appointment. Here we are in September 2022 and again the compressor has gone out. Upon calling for service, I was told the compressor was still under warranty. When the tech came out, they told me no warranty in effect as the warranty expired in 11/2021 when the 5 year warranty expired! Quote for repair around $985. If I bought the warranty for a year at $50.00 per month they would reduce the cost by $150.00. Additionally, a $75.000 deductible for each service call. I was very frustrated and took the bait for the warranty. Upon receiving a confirmation email, it quoted service calls deductibles were $100.00! More perturbed! Called to complain and see if something could be done hit a brick wall.
Two days after compressor installed, it has gone down after a trip to Sam's to replenish food lost from this compressor episode! More lost food. Called this last Thursday, 9/22/22 and have an appointment for this Thursday, 9/30! I to do not understand why this has been allowed for Sears to sell the refrigerator with a defective compressor for so many years.
I had numerous service calls for the dishwasher and spoke to an agent regarding the dishwasher being a lemon as many issues repeatedly broke down and was given a pro-rated dollar amount that was ridiculously low for how much I paid for the dishwasher and figured I'd go through the frustration while the warranty was in effect.
I planned to re-purchase new appliances should these break down however, upon the rep telling me the compressor was still under warranty upon calling, I went ahead with the service call and got a sock it to me! I'm searching the web for any class action suits that still may be going on as I was informed by the Sears Associate that there was one. So far, I've only found the one that was already done and over with. It's hard with this current economy and losing allot from my retirement account to now go out and buy new appliances but the price Sears is charging to install a defective piece of equipment will force me to look for something else if this happens again. My son-in-law just purchased a used refrigerator for $400.00 that looks great and has been going strong in his garage for 4 months during extreme over 100 degree daily weather.
Calling for service is ridiculous as well. I wanted to speak with a manager and was shuffled 6 times for a call period of over an hour. Most reps cannot speak clear English if a word had more than 4 letters and asking to repeat and clarify consistently was maddening! And, yes, how did they keep this so quiet and why weren't customers notified of class action lawsuits. Been a Kenmore appliance buyer for many years. I agree with you Justin (previous post) and all other commentors. Awful service and fraudulent practices by Sears. Perhaps contributing to them no longer in business.

Called the Sears repair line and found out August 30th was the earliest they could have a service technician come to diagnose the problem (over 3 weeks later with no refrigerator/freezer). We lost a great deal of expensive food from the refrigerator & freezer.
When the technician finally came out as soon as he looked at the unit he said "Here we go with another one". He said ours was the third of the same refrigerator model that he examined that day & found our's. like the other two, had a failed compressor. The quote to fix was almost $1400 and the replacement would be the same model compressor that just failed in under 4 years. compressor. AI called a local repair shop for a second quote & was told the compressor should have a 10 yr. warranty (however ours it turns out was for just 1 year). I've owned several refrigerators in the past and never had one fail in less than 20 years. I made many, many calls to Sears and Kenmore and all they could say was "Sorry". I was furious as I looked into this to find out Sears/Kenmore & LG are aware of the premature compressor failures and apparently the only action they have taken is to shorten their warranty to protect themselves and take advantage of customers that would never purchase the product if they had any awareness of the known/identified compressor failures. Sears/Kenmore & LG need to be held accountable for knowingly selling defective equipment.

We purchased a Kenmore Elite Refrigerator May 2018. Up until July of 2022 it was fine, then all of a sudden it stopped getting cold. We called Sears on July 22, 2022 and was told the soonest that someone could come out was September 1, 2022. I was in shock on how long it would take, and that we would be without a refrigerator for weeks. The I was able to check the reschedule link that was text to me and was so exciting to see that a sooner appointment had opened up. The technician arrived on August 5,2022. He informed us that we had a Linear Compress which had gone bad. He stated that this is a well-known issue our Kenmore Model.
The technical order the parts for us, which is covered under the 10-year manufacturer warranty. The tech said he soonest appointment to come back and replace the parts was on September 16, 2022. I was in disbelief that we had to wait until 6 weeks before our refrigerator could be fixed since it had already been weeks.
I have been checking everyday to see if a sooner appointment was available and there wasn’t, in fact the soonest now was October 2022.
On Labor Day, September 5, 2022, with one week to go before we had our refrigerator fixed, we get an automated call to say that our service repair appointment had been changed to October 25, 2022. Panicking and frustrated I call Sears to find out why they changed my appointment with now phone call to see if that was ok with us. Instead, it took me 35 minutes to even reach a live person then I was transferred 5 different times. I asked numerous times to speak to a supervisor and keep getting told someone would call me back. I said no thank you that I wanted to hold as I didn’t trust anything that they said to me. After holding for 45 mins I was hung on.
Since Kenmore says only Sears can service this part and that we can’t use another company we are being held hostage.
We had to pay almost $600 upfront for labor, we just want our refrigerator fixed. I have never had this bad of service from any company before in my life. We will never again shop at Sears knowing they treat their customers like crap.
This whole situation is unacceptable, and I am expecting an acceptable follow-up to secure a much sooner date as a part of good customer service!

After doing some research on my own I come to find out our problem was not unique others have had the same problems.
We then went back to Sears and request another service person to evaluate the problem. Our thinking was the refrigerator is only 5 years old it couldn't that big of a deal to get fix. Well what we found out from the new service person was had he been able to reach us via phone while in route he could have save us some time and money. Upon arrival the service person explained us Sears knows about this problem and it is cost prohibitive to get it repaired because even if we did there are just too many issues with this model. So we paid for the service call, looked at each other and began to wonder how is this possible? Sears knowingly sells us a defective product and do little or nothing about it. How can that be? Any advice? So we are stuck with a Kenmore Elite Bottom Freezer Refrigerator Grab-N-Go Model that looks bran new but doesn't work. Hey Sears I thought you guys were better than that.

Fast forward to August 2022. The compressor failed again. We had not renewed the appliance maintenance contract because when our 26 year old over the stove microwave failed, they refused to cover it, not because it was old, but because the latch that held the door closed had failed. Obviously the appliance maintenance service was a scam, so I doubt they would have covered the compressor anyway, so the $1500 I would have spent would have been sending good money after bad.
I contacted Sears and explained the situation. They agreed that having the compressor fail twice before the refrigerator was even five years old was absolutely unacceptable, however, the solution they offered was to send a technician out to diagnose the issue (at our cost). I told them I'd already had a technician diagnose the issue...it was the compressor (again). I asked what Sears was going to do to make it right for us, and was told that the only thing he could do was set an appointment to have a technician come out and diagnose and then come back to replace the compressor (our cost). Or he suggested I could buy a new refrigerator.
I am astounded at the lack of concern Sears is showing for their customers. Kenmore was always a good, solid brand of appliances, and I chose the refrigerator I did because of a long standing reputation. I don't know who made the decision to allow LG to make these appliances but in my opinion, that was a terrible decision. Given all of the comments found even here on this page, I cannot imagine how anyone with any moral compass whatsoever could not see the impact of that decision and make it right for people.

Is there any lemon laws that apply to this compressor? Any option to get a different brand or get the money back in order to purchase a better brand? I would have never purchased this had I known these problems would continue to happen on the later model Kenmore Elite refrigerators.

I realize this is probably not of great legal import, but I would like to point out that I have NEVER had a refrigerator fail to operate in such a short time span. In fact, years ago I bought an old,used one for super cheap because it was what I could afford at the time. Even that one lasted a little more than 10 years. Thus, I don't consider my expectation that LG's compressor in a brand new (and $2600) Kenmore-branded refrigerator would last at least the length of its warranty (10 years) to be outrageous. Indeed, every fridge I ever bought (I am in my 60s) has lasted *at least* 10 years. Based on what I've been reading, I am far, far, far from the only one in this predicament and I don't understand why only 3-door versions are eligible under the settlement.

We had the LG compressor replaced by sears repairman in Jan 29th and broke again on April 29. the repair cost is $675.18 x 2 = $1350.36 + tip($100 x 2) =$1550.36.
We intend to take a legal action against this incident and hoping one of you Sears, Kenmore, LG can take care of their customer issue.
I downloaded SC-100 form and filled out and ready to go to Superior court to fill the small claim case.
This is rediculous and neglect of consumers.
For justice, we can not let this monkey business keep going.

The cooling stopped for both freezer and refrigerator in 12/1/21 and reported the issue that week. And the first available time to troubleshoot was in Jan 2022, that was canceled then another cancel until Feb 7 , 2022. The tech said it was the lg compressor valves failed and the parts were ordered and delivered the next week. But we still are waiting for the repair tech to come and install the parts but they have canceled 3 more times. So it’s now ended of April with no refrigerator for almost 5 months.

Monday, November 8th I called to see why our technician was a NO SHOW. I was told they were out ill. I was told the next available date was going to be Monday, November 22nd. I was not happy since we had already waited 2 weeks for the original appointment and we had NO working fridge. She told me she could put me on an emergency 24-48 hour call back. And someone would be in contact with us to get to see if we can be seen sooner. I did book the November 22 appointment hoping we would be seen sooner Never heard back from anyone, called again on Thursday, November 11th and was told the same thing. Someone will call back by Friday and see about getting in sooner. Friday, November 12th made another call and was told someone would call us over the weekend.
Monday, November 15th came and still no call from anyone. I called and asked to speak with someone in higher management. After being transferred 3 times, I spoke with someone. After telling her of all the times I have been calling in and promised someone would call me back from the 24-48 hour service department by 3 different customer service representatives, she told me that the service department no longer exists and has been gone for the past 2 years. I must have been speaking with some representatives that were in training. The next thing she told me is that I no longer had the November 22nd appointment schedule "because I canceled it" which I have NEVER changed or canceled. After she placed me on hold, she found out that the appointment was canceled on Sears end . So now the earliest someone could come out to my house was Monday, December 6th. She was not willing to find me an earlier appointment at all. I told her this is unacceptable. I asked for someone in escalation service to give me a call within the week of this call. She said she would send a report -- and of course I NEVER received a follow up call from anyone from Sears.
At this point, we had zero trust in Sears ever coming out to look at our fridge since there were so many inconsistencies within customer service. We had to schedule a service repair with another company as we were going on 6 weeks without a fridge.
Please let us know who we can send our invoice too for reimbursement for the compressor since this was still under warranty.

Just had a tech come to look at it because it stopped freezing and cooling food it's a model 795.72489.411
He informed me it was due to the lg compressor and cost more to fix because it will go out again. That is not the only issue are has and he has seen many more with this issue as well where the door water and ice dispenser will not work unless you put a magnet on top to trick the fridge to think it is closed and slowly open the door till the wires continue properly to send a signal to dispenser ice or water. Just to fix that alone is over 600 for a new door because the problem is in the door and can not just replace the wires.

Kenmore model #79573105710. I called Sears Warranty department and they said they will have to send a technician. I was told to call LG for the warranty and LG told me I needed to call Sears. Sears told me the compressor had 1 year warranty only. Technician said not to waste my money fixing it because I will continue having problems with it. He advised me to buy a new refrigerator.

Bought from Sears and LG refused to recall the compressor where pretty much they used the same compressor from 2014.
We are looking for a class action against Sears, Kenmore, LG.
Does any one know if there is the same compensation for the repair from LG?

In other words I would spend only $550 every 8 months or so since it is at 1/2 price.

11/29/21 - Two days ago the freezer began defrosting and yesterday the entire refrigerator/freezer quit. Sears told my husband that they had no one that could come and check it. We had a local person check it out and the LG compressor has quit. Doing research online to find a replacement compressor found out that this has been an ongoing issue with Kenmore and the LG Compressors. I would like to know what is being done now to help with this since the law suit claim is supposedly closed. This is ridiculous!

I noticed my refrigerator was not cooling . I tried to find a local repairman however they all ask what kind refrigerator do you have ? When I replied Kenmore Elite a couple of them refused to repair LG And Samsung products. Finally I found Kenmore repairman he told me the compressor is died .
He told me they used plastic parts. He told me it will cost $ 950 plus labor to repair my refrigerator. LG told me they would not cover the cost to repair my Kenmore elite because they don’t manufacture Kenmore products. Kenmore said I would have to pay $169 just for a service call. Neither company stands behind their products.

Wow, it hasn't been 3 years and the compressor died on our Kenmore Elite Refridgerator. The warranty on the compressor is supposed to cover for 10 years. We are getting the royal run around and a great deal of stress from Sears which is shielding Kenmore.
They want $1100 to repair. They said our compressor is not covered as they conveniently add a note although it is in black and white print on the warranty. This is highway robbery. Supposedly not all models are covered???
These folks are crooks and now as summer starts, I'm without a fridge. Five thumbs down on Sears and Kenmore.

They sent a repairman, who charged me $80 (they told me it would be $75)...but then said that they would Only Pay Up To $500...for the $1000 repair!

After smelling something "burning" during the evening of Feb 26th, realized the fridge was no longer working the afternoon of Feb 27th. Using a fairly incompetent home warranty company (I will soon dissolve our relationship), three (3) contractors have confirmed it's the compressor (in a linear sealed system), and we're now awaiting parts to fix.

I can see why Kenmore is "kaput" and why Sears is going under- they have inferior quality and refuse to stand behind their appliances.

They know and knew about the bad compressor yet sold it to us and said customer be damned if you did not buy the extended warranty and I did not. I spent around $2000 because I thought this Kenmore, knowing it was made by LG, was such a good product. Both LG and Sears scammed us because they are not being accountable. They did not have a problem selling these products so they should not have had a problem bringing out the repairman and fixing all customers refrigerators at their cost.
For those that are interested there is an LG CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT pending. Unsure if it will be ruled to go to court. The lawyers are looking for litigants. And you can find and read about in on FACEBOOK or simply search ONLINE using the search argument "LG Class Action Lawsuit. I do not know if Sears will be implicated in it or not. (they should be).
I contacted Sears, Rob Barker, Vice President Customer Experience and the Sears "EXECUTIVE COMPLAINT" department. I did receive a call back, but the lady at the EC Department who called me has been simply giving me the runaround. She called wanting to know how she could help me yet she did not want to help me. She really did not care. She did Schedule and called out rigsa Sears repair person to look at my refrig (I had already called out a repair person and paid him who diagnosed a failed linear compressor) and pretended that I would not have to pay...but guess what? the Sears Serviceman asked me about payment...so that told me she lied. She is trying to hold me to the "Limited Warranty" whereby I am out of pocket on all costs except for the compressor. I say BUYERS BEWARE of paying to install that new compressor..
Many who did replace the compressor have wound up with more problems. Truth be known...."STAY AWAY FROM LG Refrigs.
I personally am not going to invest anymore money into my Kenmore. As of this date, I do not have a working refrigerator, I have lost all of my food. I tried to save it by buying coolers and spending $10-$12 a day for ice. I have given up on this because the ice lasts 24 hrs and less. And having to get the ice daily has started to add up. It has been 7 days and I am no close to a solution with Sears or LG..been talking with both of them. Sears really does not seem to care. As a matter of fact, they are dealing with BANKRUPTCY . There are hundreds if not thousands of people like us who are dealing with failed units (fRIGs) because of these bad compressors.
It appears that we are stuck but I do try to get the companies to do the right thing. We as a community need to apply a lot of pressure on them. There are literally thousands of us who have been victimized. , I too will never buy anther SEARS PRODUCT! There was a time when Sears products were good, reliable and would last seemingly forever. IT does seem that Long gone are those days.

This law states that LG as the warranter of the compressor for 10 years they are required to service and replace for free. They cannot tie in service with Sears because it is PROHIBITED under Magnuson-Moss. We called Sears Corporate and told them that they needed to send us a compressor now and advised them of Magnuson-Moss. After back and forth we are being shipped a new compressor as I write this. Oh and you can have it serviced by who you want. No Sears visit for $99.00 to take a picture of the LG label and wait 3 weeks for the part to come and another $500.00-$1000.00 for installation.
My girlfriend started with a post about Sears on FACEBOOK. People believe me that they do monitor Facebook and will respond in kind from corporate. The first being a he front load washer which after just a couple years the spider arm on the back of the drum completely corroded/rotted and broke. I then paid for extended warranty through sears and scheduled a day for repair tech to come to my house. I had to take a day off of work as they can not give you a specific time for appointment but say the service tech will arrive between 9am and 4 pm. So the day I took off for the scheduled appointment I was outside of my home and missed a phone call when I got in and reviewed my messages it was the repair tech stating he was calling to confirm the appointment and if I don’t call him back within 10 min to confirm, he would have to reschedule . I immediately called back, however no answer and tech never showed up.
I then called and had appointment rescheduled only to lose another days pay. The tech tore apart the washer took weeks for the parts to come in and he installed new drum and spider, within 1.5 yrs the new spider completely corroded and broke
I then replaced the front loader with whirlpool model. Let me just say I co Robie to use a 35yr old top loader as back up in my basement without any issues.
In regards to the fridge. I came home to soaking wet floors beneath my fridge and it took a while to figure out where the water was coming from that ruined my wood flooring.
Long story short, it was the ice maker failing to dump the ice cubes from the tray which I believe was related to the ice tray mold heating element not working. When the tray would turn to dump the cubes would not fall out. When the tray rotated back to the position to fill with water the water would begin its attempt to fill the tray, however the ice cubes from previous cycle were
Still in the tray causing all the water to pour across the ice tray/cubes and into the freezer and out on the floor. I have since disconnected the ice maker and have been filling ice trays the old fashioned way. Someday when I get the extra $150-220 I will order the new replacement ice maker after I have replaced the warped flooring.
If there are any class action suits related to any of these issues or other junk lg products such as oven, microwave, and dryer, please alert me .

I contacted Sears to have a diagnosis done. The tech came out and told me the control board needed to be replaced and it would be $700. Having done research I knew it was likely the compressor given the experiences everyone else has had. He also gave me some story about my cabinets affecting the air flow, which was total BS. There is more than enough space between the refrigerator and the cabinetry around it. After a lot of back and forth I told him to leave and did not want him to replace the control board.
I contacted an appliance repair man who came out and he immediately said it was the compressor. He laughed when I told him that Sears wanted to replace the control board.
The bottom line is the compressor is the only thing under warranty so they are going to try every other component at the customers expense before ever admitting it was the compressor.
It's clear why they are going out of business. I am now looking at having a different brand of compressor put in which should hopefully solve my issue. But it's beyond to pay $2500 for a refrigerator that lasts 1 year. Ridiculous.
When there is inevitably a class action lawsuit sign me up.

Sears repair man came 2/25/19. Said problem was compressor, that compressor was covered under warranty, but labor to replace would be $445.00. Totally not acceptable. This replacement refrigerator was to replace same model that was broken for more than a month and Sears could not figure out how to fix it. American Express took the money back from Sears for the unfixable refrigerator and that is when Sears decided to replace the refrigerator with this one that just quit working.
I had another repair call on this refrigerator not long after I received it because the ice and water dispensers were not working. I refused the large estimate to fix it, but a few days later The ice and water dispensers began working again. Now, the whole refrigerator has quit working.

The next morning everything in freezer was thawed out. Threw out all food in refrigerator and now is not cooling at all. Seems like it cools some but no air flowing. Called sears on November 15,2018 thinking could use sears connect for diagnostics. Was told refrigerator no longer under warranty and would need to pay $99 for repair diagnostics. Was told it would be a week for someone to come out. I believe this model from what I am reading under reviews needs to be a part of this lawsuit. . Sears service informed me that they don't have any service tech. In my state Delaware. I find this unacceptable and unethical too sell products with no technical assistance available in the state. I have been on the phone at least 24 hours, transferred to one person after the other from the phillipines to the usa. telling they didn't have a supervisor. on duty. Given me the answer we don't a supervisor on duty..
I have been without a refrigerator freezer for approximately 3 weeks. And yes I had smoke and did not realize where it was coming from
When one morning 5/15/2018 and noticed the milk was warm and water was on the floor. looked at freezer and all the food was soft.
The freezer had gone bad long before I knew about it. I called the service on May 15 and they arranged an appt on May 22. I rescheduled on sun May 17 received may 18.
Bad compressor and another part. received the parts on Thursday May 21.
NOW THE REAL PRROBLEM HAS BEGAIN... The valve was not ordered and is not available. and sears cannot find the part number. I have called LG and asked for the part number and Jenny man, Phillipines, stated she was not allowed not give me the information nor was allowed to give me an answer if she was on the phillipines.
You sold me a lemon and had no intention of mentioning to keep from loosing a lot of money.
I like my refrigerator,, although if you cannot fix it I would like to exchange for same product.
IF that is too much to ask I will go to an attorney ;

problems. At two months the circuit board was replaced, at present am awaiting compressor and repair to take place.
With the lost of food and no refridgerator or freezer it gets expensive for repairs not to mention incovenience. A Sears customer for many years was hoping for a better product.

I am contacting you once again to inform you that my refridgerator is still not fixed as of today.
After calling the number below as you requested to schedule a visit with a senior technician, your Service Center sent a regular technician to my home today. He determined that the lines were clogged "like an artery" and that he had to reschedule yet another service call for March 5th. Never had any of the other technicians indicated that any "lines were clogged". So, we are again without a Freezer and NOW without a Refridgerator.
I am asking you to expidite this issue and once again, determine that this unit is simply unrepairable. We again are asking for a full refund of the purchase price of gthe refridgerator that we purchased only 2 years ago. Plus the cost of the service call yesterday, and the cost of lost food items as well as punitive damages for the increasingly frustrated and unprofessional customer service that we have experienced.

We finally received the new parts and had them installed yesterday. Unfortunately the freezer still does NOT work. At this point we are demanding either a full 100% refund of the purchase price of the refridgeration or a replacement of better quality refridgerator.

Dear Customer Service Manager,
I would like to lodge a formal complaint regarding the recent service I have received concerning the repair of my Kenmore Elite Refridgerator. Specifically, after 2 years, the LG Compressor broke and a new compressor had to be ordered.
I called Sears Service Center on December 18, 2017. A service technician was able to diagnose the problem on Dcember 20th.
I ordered the Compressor Parts that day, as instructed.
The day they arrived I called the Service Center to Schedule a repair.
The Repair was scheduled for January 4th. - 17 Days after my call to the Service Center to report the problem.
On January 4th, there was a snow storm and the appointment was canceled by the Sears Service Center.
I could not get a second appointment until January 16 - 29 Days after . my call to the Service Center to report the problem.
On January 16th, the technician arrived and stated the LG Compressor Parts were defective and I had to order another Compressor.
I called the Service Center that day to order the parts. I was told they were on back order from LG and they could not give me a date as to when the Compressor would be shipped. I was told that they did not know when I would be able to schedule another Service Repair appointment because they did not know when the Compressor would be shipped.
I called the Service Center the next week to follow up, and I was told that the LG Compressor was due to be shipped on 1/26/18. 39 Days after my call to the Service Center to report the problem.
I confirmed with the Service Center that if I scheduled a Technician to come on February 6th, that would give enough time for the LG Compressor to be delivered to me. She agreed that would be a safe time to schedule the repair. So I scheduled another Service Repair appointment for February 6th. Now 50 days after my call to the Service Center to report the problem.
On 2/5/18 I called the Service Center to confirm my appointment for the next day and to tell them that I had not received the new LG Compressor Parts. It is important to note here, that at no time was I contacted to tell me that the parts were delayed or (as I learned on the call) had not even been shipped yet. Imagine if I had not confirmed and a Service Techcinician had showed up. Sears would have no doubt been charged for the service call. I was then told that they again could not give me a date
I asked to speak to a Service Center Supervisor, as I was now thoroughty upset with the service I have been receiving as a long, long time Sears Customer. The Supervisor, could only offer another appointment on February 14th and a token $30 sears gift card for my troubles. There was no empathy or compassion or care that one of your long time customers has been without a Freezer for 53 days and would not get another attempt at shipping a LG Compressor. It will then be 58 days after my call to the Service Center to report the problem.
I am concerned that the LG Compressor that will be ordered, may 1) be broker again, and 2) will break again in the near future, and 3) I will have to pay for a Service Repair to fix a problem that may or may not be ultimately fixed. My Refridgerator is only 2 years old.
I demand that I be made whole in this situation, as we have endured, time off of work, upset our work schedules, and go without a freezer resulting in many more numerous trips to the grocery store because we cannot freeze any food. And, your repair options is to install another faulty LG Compressor into this Refridgerator. Sears should replace this refridgerator in its entirety. It is the only consolation that is acceptable due to this situation.
Sears is better than that. At least I thought they were.
