Hyundai Recalls Sonata Over Faulty Front Door Latches
Seoul, South Korea: Hyundai Motor Company headquartered in Seoul, has issued a voluntary recall of 1,300 Sonatas in the US, and a further 46,000 in South Korea to fix defective front door latches.
According to a report in the Washington Post complaints have been received in the US alleging that in certain circumstances the latch gets stuck after the door is opened and subsequently cannot be closed.
A spokesperson for Hyundai reportedly said the problem occurs when the door latch is pulled and at the same time the lock is held down. Although this is an unusual occurrence, it has happened frequently enough to warrant the car manufacturer to come up with a fix.
