Imprelis Class Action filed against DuPont
Were you looking for DuPont Faces Class Action over Herbicide Imprelis and Tree Death or EPA Investigates Imprelis Herbicide or Imprelis Lawsuits Filed Against DuPont in Ohio, Iowa and Michigan lawsuits?
New York, NY: A defective products class action lawsuit has been brought aginst DuPont - the makers of Imprelis, alleging the herbacide kills or damages trees, bushes and plants, including: Trees: Arborvitae, Ash, Cedar, Dogwood, Fir, Locust, Maple, Oak, Pine, Redwood, Spruce, and Yew; Bushes: Forsythia, Redbud, Rhododendron, Viburnum; and Plants: Black Eyed Susan, Purple Coneflower, Delphinium, Lilac, Vinca minor (periwinkle).
Following a growing number of reports of tree deaths from private and corporate customers earlier this year, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which oversees the regulation of chemicals used in the environment, requested more research documents from DuPont, and on August 11, the EPA issued a Stop Sale, Use, Or Removal Order to DuPont which banned the sale of Imprelis in the United States.
Based upon the EPA's Stop Sale Order, it would appear that DuPont knew that Imprelis could harm trees and other non-target vegetation but did not disclose that information to either the EPA or the public...Trees, shrubs, and other plants acted exactly like weeds, taking the chemical in...through the root system and killing...from the inside out. Trees showed the same symptoms as DuPont indicated one would see in the dying weeds. The EPA (asserts)... that DuPont withheld...evidence from them," lawyers for the plaintiffs state.
