Kroger E. Coli Tainted Ground Beef Infects 35 People
14 People Hospitalized
An additional 12 people have been reported ill as a result of consuming Kroger E. coli infected beef, following Wednesday's recall. This brings the number of people ill to 35. So far, 14 people have been hospitalized, and one patient developed hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a type of kidney failure.The Kroger beef recall was issued for all ground beef products with sell-by dates of May 21 through to June 8, 2008.
Since 2001, Kroger has issued four ground beef recalls.
