Las Vegas Mass Shooting Launches Negligence and Personal Injury Lawsuits
Las Vegas, NV: In the wake of the October 1st, mass shooting at the Route 91 festival at the MGM Resort Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, personal injury lawsuits are being filed. Among the allegations is the failure of the MGM Mandalay Bay hotel-casino to respond quickly enough to the shooting at one of their security guards by Stephen Paddock, who had checked into the hotel prior to the festival.
Allegations are being made that MGM was negligent in its monitoring of people coming and going from the hotel in the time around the event.
Allegations are also being made that the resort failed to notice all the fire arms that Paddock had brought with him to the hotel, and that they failed to act when he broke his hotel window.
Questions are also being raised about the differences in the timeline of the shooting as reported by the Las Vegas Police and the MGM, the actions of the Mandalay Bay security guard, and a possible breakdown in the chain of command procedures.
The claims being made in one lawsuit include premises liability against MGM Resorts International and Mandalay Corp., intentional tort claims against the Estate of Stephen Paddock, and products liability claims against Slide Fire, the manufacturer of the bump stock device that enabled Paddock to fire hundreds of bullets in rapid succession and which the police claim plays a part in the number of people injured or killed in the tradgedy.
