Lipozene Faces False Advertising Claims over Lipozene Weight Loss Products
Washington, DC: The Obesity Research Institute has come under scrutiny for potential consumer fraud regarding claims of the effectiveness of its "Lipozene"products, specifically that the products are "safe and effective"weight loss products "clinically proven to reduce body fat."
The controversy stems from allegedly fraudulent and misleading claims that the main ingredient in Lipozene, which is a water-soluble dietary fiber called Glucomannan, causes weight loss or reduction in body fat. Reportedly, one recently filed lawsuit cites several studies that showed Glucomannan was no more effective than placebo in reducing weight. And, that in order for any kind of substantial weight loss to occur, a person would have to take between 20 and 30 grams of Glucomannan per day, an amount which could cause severe diarrhea and other related gastrointestinal side effects.
