This is a settlement for the Antitrust lawsuit.

Des Moines, IA:(Apr-18-07) Microsoft Corp. has been caught up in a spate of class action lawsuits filed against it by the US government, including a class action antitrust lawsuit in Iowa. The suit claimed that Microsoft, who has monopoly power in the desktop operating system market, used their position to overcharge Iowans on Microsoft products, sparking off the antitrust and damage claims. In a settlement reached, the agreement, among other things, calls for Microsoft to pay up to $179.95 million to individual users and businesses that bought Microsoft software between May 18, 1994 and June 30, 2006. People in Iowa who purchased the products will be able to receive $16 for OSes, $29 for Office, $25 for Excel, and $10 for Word. Individual users will get cash.
