The computer company has agreed to pay IBM a $775 million settlement and provide $75 million worth of software. IBM did not sue Microsoft, but pressed claims that Microsoft broke antitrust laws detailed in U.S. District Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson's 2000 ruling. Jackson ruled that Microsoft sought to penalize IBM for marketing its own software by giving IBM's PC competitors earlier access to its Windows 95 code. Microsoft wanted IBM to hand off its OS/2 operating system, which competed with Windows. (Jul-02-05) [MIAMI HERALD]
