Roman Catholic Diocese of Oakland

Fifty six victims filed lawsuits against the diocese alleging abuse from priests. An Alameda County Superior Court judge has awarded the victims individual settlements adding up to $56 million. The diocese will pay $25 million of the settlement while the rest will be paid for by insurers. (Aug-05-05) [SUN TIMES]
