City Tow and Rickenbacker Group Inc.

A towing contractor is refunding more than $340,000 to approximately 72,000 drivers in San Francisco who were charged storage fees after their cars were towed. Pick Your Part Auto Wrecking, also known as City Tow and Rickenbacker Group Inc, reached a settlement with the San Francisco city attorney's office.

The agreement was made to relieve people who gave up rights of their automobiles to City Tow to avoid tow related fees. These people later found out they faced bills for tow and storage fees. Consumers who paid for the fees are set to receive refunds and people with outstanding bills can consider them void, city officials said. City Tow and Rickenbacker Group are supposed to track down the affected motorists. [SAN FRANSISCO GATE]

This collection account is the largest debt on my credit report. I am unable to get credit extention or apply for new credit as a result of this account. I have never been contacted by them (Rickenbacker Group). I was never notified of such an account with all the charges and fees by Anytime Towing or Rickenbacker Group. I would like a deletion letter from them and have them remove this account from my credit file. I have filed a dispute with Experian with a statement of "I have no knowledge of this account."

4 years ago, my partner and I have donated a car to a rescue organization. We/I did all the proper paperwork for the transaction/VMV! Twice in this 4 years I already was contacted by 2 different companies that I owe them money for this "abandoned" vehicle. The last time I was told the car is in Nevada.
Now I have been contacted by Rickenbacker Collection Service claiming they represent a "towing comapny" and I am responsible to pay them $1,789.50 !! I always had proof that this vehicle was correctly transfered!

I donated a car on 9/15/01 to Services to the Blind, I turned my plates into the DMV. On 5/5/06 I received a Certified Letter from United Road Towing stating that I owed 634.10. I faxed all the information to their office that day. I have now received a letter stating that I am in collections for 1,926.95. I tried to call them and they said that paperwork was not filled out or completed. I did all I was to do.
