The goal of the event was to raise sufficient funds for equipment, including a wheelchair van, ramps and other gear, that will help Teagan Marti be as comfortable as possible.
"This van would represent freedom, and give her some semblance of a normal teenage life," said organizer Alan Weiser, whose family has lived next to the Martis for 15 years.
Weiser told the news source that he hoped the event would draw 400 people who could donate their time or money to assist Marti.
According to NBC Miami, Marti sustained the theme park injuries when safety nets at the park were not raised to catch her on a plunge ride.
