Nashville, TNBack and neck injury compensation has become commonplace in cases where people are injured through no fault of their own, either on the job or in other aspects of life.
Such compensation is even doled out to high-profile members of society, as the recent case of former Tennessee Titans wide receiver David Givens indicates. In the case of the former Super Bowl champion receiver, the Titans settled for more than $5,000 in workers' compensation after Givens suffered a season-ending knee injury, according to the Tennessean.
In a lawsuit that was initially dismissed in federal court last year, Givens accused the Titans of concealing medical information from him and telling him to continue playing even though he was previously told that his knee condition would not be able to hold up in the National Football League.
Compensation for knee and back injuries is not limited to those relying on their athletic ability to earn a living, however, as slip-and-fall accidents can result in such injuries. In one recent instance, a Carnival cruise ship passenger was awarded nearly $3 million after she suffered serious knee injuries when she fell on the pool deck, which was slippery due to a resin surface.
According to Travel Daily News, the lawsuit claimed that Carnival had been aware of previous accidents related to the same floors on the same ship as well as others. The plaintiff in this case, Denise Kaba, reportedly suffered a fractured patella and needed to undergo six surgeries, according to the suit. She will also reportedly need at least one total knee replacement later in life, court documents indicated.
A Texas woman is also reportedly seeking compensation for back injuries she claims she suffered after slipping on a wet floor in an apartment complex.
Ultimate Lake Houston reports that Marilyn Barnes filed the lawsuit recently in Harris County District Court against Radney Management and Investments Inc., claiming the incident occurred at the complex's management office. Barnes, who was reportedly discussing a recent rent payment, claims the floor inside the office was wet from rain, causing her to slip and suffer the injuries.
She is reportedly seeking damages for medical costs, court fees and loss of income in the back injury compensation lawsuit.
