According to the official reports, a man driving a Bentley collided with a Hyundai at an intersection, forcing the smaller car into a roadside canal and killing its driver. The driver of the Bentley, who fled the scene of the crash but was later found by deputies a short distance up the road, was taken to a local hospital, where he was treated for a broken wrist.
Medical examiners have yet to determine the cause of death for the driver of the Hyundai, though the most likely causes are blunt force trauma from the accident itself or drowning from the canal water, according to NBC News. The cause of death could determine the severity of charges that the driver of the Bentley will face.
Police have yet to rule out excessive or alcohol as factors in the crash. Neither car was carrying a passenger and authorities are still searching for witnesses of the incident.
