Glenns Ferry, IDA family of four died in a car accident on the interstate highway in Idaho Thursday night. According to a report on CNN.com Amado Herrera, 48, of California, and three passengers were heading west on Interstate 84 near Glenns Ferry, in their Nissan four-door vehicle, when they were struck by a pickup truck. They died instantly, according to police reports.
The ford F-150, driven by 45-year old Eusebio Jacobo Pineda, was traveling in the wrong direction on the freeway at the time. The accident occurred shortly before 8:50 pm.
The passengers in Amado Herrara's car have been identified as Luz Herrera, age unknown, 18-year old Ivette Herrera, and nine-year old Antoni Herrera. They are all are from South El Monte, California.
The Herrera's were all wearing seatbelts, the Idaho State Police report, but it is not clear whether or not Pineda was wearing one. The truck apparently rolled after impact, and the entire front end of the Herrera's car was smashed in.
Traffic on Interstate 84 was blocked for about four hours Thursday night. Police told CNN Friday that the crash is still under investigation. As yet, criminal charges had not been filed.
