Denture Cream Lawsuit Scheduled for 2011

Miami, FLThe date for a potentially major trial involving Fixodent denture cream is scheduled to begin next year.

span itemprop="image" itemscope itemtype="https://schema.org/ImageObject" style="display:block">US District Court Judge Cecilia M. Altonaga recently issued an order scheduling a Fixodent lawsuit filed by Marianne and Daniel Chapman for June 6, 2011, according to AboutLawsuits.com.

The couple's lawsuit claims that Proctor and Gamble, the makers of Fixodent, failed to warn consumers that its product contained zinc.

According to Dr. Teresa Graedon and Joe Graedon, writing in the Seattle Times, too much zinc can lead to a copper deficiency, which can cause anemia and neurological problems.

Super Poli-Grip, made by GlaxoSmithKline, has been reformulated and no longer contains zinc, according to the Graedons. In addition, the drug maker is urging consumers to avoid denture creams that contain zinc. The US Food and Drug Administration is working with denture cream manufacturers to reduce the risk of zinc poisoning for consumers.

GlaxoSmithKline settled a number of denture cream zinc poisoning lawsuits earlier this summer.
