With about 1,000 homes threatened, all residents in those areas were asked to be prerpared to leave their homes immediately should the evacuation warning become mandatory.
According to the local news KSBW the Soberanes Fire in Garrapata State Park has grown to 10,262 acres and was 5 percent contained at last notice.

On Friday evening, residents of Big Sur who live in the Palo Colorado Canyon neighborhood were forced to leave their homes as the fire grew closer.
According to officials, the fire sparked around 8:30 a.m. Friday. Its expected containment date is July 31. A shift in wind Saturday afternoon caused the fire to move north. More than 300 firefighters are battling the wildfire from the ground and air.
Residents are preparing for the fact that should they have to leave, there may not be anything left to go back to.
