St. Joseph, MOMissouri State Highway Patrol have announced that three teens were injured in a two car accident Monday, near Trentron.
The accident involved a 1996 Toyota, driven by 19-year old Scott N. Ellison who was heading south on US Highway 65, when the 1992 Toyota behind him pulled out to overtake. Ellison reportedly struck the 1992 Toyota on the driver side door and came to a stop on the west side of the highway, down an embankment.
The overtaking Toyota, driven by driven by 18-year old Jacoby B. Kanapp, also skidded out to the west side of the highway, stopping on the shoulder.
Mr. Ellison and his 16-year old passenger Leanna M. Nelson, suffered only minor injuries. The police report they were both wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident. Mr. Ellison was taken by private vehicle to Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton, while Ms. Nelson refused medical treatment at the scene.
Mr. Kanapp suffered moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to Wright Memorial Hospital. He reportedly was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the car crash.
Assisting the Trenton Police department at the scene of the accident were the Grundy County Sheriff's Department and the Trenton Fire Department.
