A 58-year-old woman from Springfield was killed in a recent Missouri motorcycle accident, the Springfield News-Leader reports.

According to the news source, Ellen L. Gaynor was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred approximately three miles north of Blue Eye. The woman was reportedly riding behind the driver of a 1998 Harley Davidson motorcycle when she was thrown from the vehicle during the crash.

A report from the Missouri Highway Patrol said that the motorcycle accident occurred on Missouri 86 and Missouri 13 at approximately 1:00 pm. The operator of the Harley Davidson, 59-year-old Keith E. Hughes of Lampe, was reportedly attempting to pass a turning van that was being driven by 37-year-old Christopher M. Turnbo, also of Lampe.

The news source reports that Gaynor is the 32nd highway fatality thus far in 2011 in the patrol Troop D's 18-county region in the southwestern part of the state.

There were 155 fatalities in the region last year, according to the Web site for the Missouri Highway Patrol.
