Keisley, who was stopped at a traffic light at the time, was driving with her son, Damian Slayton, in the back seat. All involved parties received serious injuries, and Damian was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police records show that Dunlap had been cited 33 times for prior traffic violations, including 13 counts of driving with a suspended license, leading many analysts to wonder why the man was not in jail for his infractions.
Kneiseley was on hand for the arraignment to oversee the proceedings.
"My son was killed because somebody made a stupid decision," Kneisley told the local press. "So I feel like I need to be here in order to make sure that he can't make that stupid decision again."
