Springfield, MOA car accident in McDonald County has left six people injured, two of them infants, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol reports.
State Troopers reported that the accident happened on US 71 south of Pineville. A 1997 Cadillac, driven by 19-year old Maricela Sebastian of Noel, tried to make a left turn and ended up in getting in the way of a 2005 Chevrolet driven by 38-year old Karen Dougherty of Bentonville AK.
The one-year old passenger in the Cadillac, Lucy Torres, sustained serious injuries, and Troopers reported she was restrained. However, Sebastian and a third passenger, 14-year old Sasha Marquez were not wearing seatbelts. They also sustained moderate injuries.
Dougherty sustained minor injuries. Troopers report she was wearing a seatbelt. Unfortunately, she had an infant in the car, Kiptyn Johnson, also from Bentonville, who sustained minor injuries. He was not properly restrained, reports indicate. John Varner, the 15-year old also in the Chevrolet, sustained minor injuries. He was not wearing a seatbelt. Currently there is no news on who was hospitalized or the accident victims health status.
