Lancaster, CA (Press Release)Today’s horrific 19-car pileup on the 14 Freeway caused by a big rig carrying at least 25 tons of sand reminds us that the large size and weight of commercial trucks, coupled with their limited maneuverability, makes them a potentially dangerous hazard to other drivers on the road.
Today’s accident occurred in dry, perfect conditions on the 14 Freeway during the lull between the morning and noon rush hours, in the height of summer with not a cloud in the sky. Investigators are still working on clearing the scene and a full investigation of the cause of the accident will take some time. Fifty firefighters set up triage at the scene and transported 15 injured people to the hospital, two in critical condition.
