Rochester Plane Crash Kills Three

A plane crash near Rochester airport has killed three people aboard the plane, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The plane narrowly missed a house before flying into a nearby wood.

According to Captain Terry Walestski of the Olmsted County Sheriff's office, a distress call was received by air traffic controllers in the Twin Cities just before midnight on Wednesday, June 16. A report from the Sheriff's authority states that the plane is so badly damaged and burnt from the resulting fire that it has so far been impossible to identify the type of plane or the passengers onboard.

Firefighters were called out to the crash site and spent some time putting out flare-ups related to burning fuel that had leaked from the wreckage to the surrounding woods. The National Transportation Safety Board will be investigating the plane crash.
