Avalon, CAAlthough badly burned, three people involved in a small plane crash in Southern California have survived.
The twin engine Cessna 310 went down at around 3:40 Sunday afternoon near the airfield at the Airport in the Sky, located on the popular tourist island of Santa Catalina. The 54-year old pilot, the 50-year old male passenger and the 48-year old female passenger on board were rushed to local hospitals by helicopter. No names have been released. They are reportedly in stable condition.
The crash set off a three-acre brush fire, which took county firefighters nearly an hour to get under control.
The circa 1956 Cessna airplane is reportedly registered to Sabovich and Sons, Inc, according to Federal Aviation Authority records, which is a construction company in Arroyo Grande, CA.
The National Transportation Safety Board will be investigating the cause of the accident.
