Miami, FLA plane crash in Cuba has left all 68 people on board dead. AeroCaribbean Flight 883 was en route from Santiago de Cuba to the capital, Havana, on Thursday, when it reported an emergency at 5:42 pm local time. The airplane then lost communication with air traffic control.
The plane reportedly went down near a mountainous area near the village of Guasimal in Santi Spiritus province. The plane was carrying 61 passengers and seven crew.
Cuba's Civil Aviation Authority issued a list of passengers that included nine Argentines, seven Mexicans, three Dutch citizens, two Germans, two Austrians, a French citizen, an Italian, a Spaniard, a Venezuelan and a Japanese. The seven member crew were all Cuban, as were 33 passengers.
The flight was a regularly scheduled running twice a week from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to Santiago de Cuba to Havana. According to information issued by state media, the aircraft was an ATR-72 twin turboprop.
