The whole subject of male virility and the capacity for an erection can make for titillating conversation, but the fact remains that a capacity for sexual function, regardless of gender, is an important aspect of the human experience. When that capacity is threatened or taken away at an age far younger than one might expect, the psychological implications can be devastating.
Such is the case surrounding litigation that is being pursued as a Propecia class-action lawsuit in Canada by two plaintiffs who allege Propecia sex drive difficulties.
According to the Prince George Citizen (8/10/13), two western Canadians from Regina and Calgary filed statements of claim alleging that Propecia robbed them of their sex drive, and failed to warn that such symptoms could continue long after the medication was stopped.
To that end, one Regina man who is angry with Merck Frosst Canada claims that he was furnished with a free sample of Propecia by his doctor following removal of a growth on the top of his head. The hope was to re-grow hair at the location from which the growth was removed.
Instead, according to the Propecia Canada claim, Propecia was found to have grown large patches of hair on his neck and back, but failed to fill the gap on the top of his head. Worse, according to the statement of claim, is an alleged difficulty to maintain an erection.
In the accompanying Propecia Canada statement of claim originating in Calgary, the plaintiff alleges to have started on Propecia in 2000, and continued with it for four years. During that time, according to court documents, he experienced a decrease in his Propecia sex drive. The plaintiff’s relationship with his wife suffered as a result, according to the statement of claim.

The manufacturer maintains that warnings with regard to Propecia sex drive were included with the product labeling. However, attorneys for the Propecia sexual dysfunction plaintiffs counter that warnings were buried too deep in the information packet for the average consumer to reasonably access.
Numerous plaintiffs who have encountered problems with Propecia finasteride expect any adverse reactions to ease once the medication has been stopped. However, it is alleged that Propecia long-term side effects are possible, creating for many men, and their partners, serious psychological trauma in its wake.
