The news provider reports that Propecia initially received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration in 1997 for treating male pattern hair loss.
However, the active ingredient in the drug, finasteride, can allegedly reduce a man's sexual function and potentially cause mental and emotional problems that ultimately may not go away after use of the drug is halted, according to the lawsuit.
"The same mechanism in the hormone system that controls hair loss also controls sexual function and a patient's mental state, and this drug has had devastating effects and destroyed the lives of men who have taken it," an attorney for the men told the news source.
