The 18-wheel tractor-trailer became wedged underneath the bridge deck on I-70 in downtown St. Louis, according to KDSK.
The driver of the truck was reportedly trying to make a left turn heading north on Broadway to Convention Plaza. The left-side wheels of the tractor trailer apparently went up on the curb, raising the truck high enough to get it lodged under the bridge deck.
The news source reports that the St. Louis truck accident caused a bit of a spectacle for drivers heading west who were exiting the Martin Luther King Bridge from Illinois.
Serious roadway accidents across the nation have seen a downward trend. There were 33,808 highway fatalities last year, which was the lowest total since 1950, according to the US Department of Transportation.
