Firm Takes Another Turn at Bat

Helena, MT A jury in Montana recently ordered the makers of the legendary Louis Slugger baseball bats to pay the Patch family $850,000 in a wrongful death and product liability suit the family never expected win. "When we were talking to them after they had no idea how much they had won," says attorney Michael Kauffman from Drake Law Firm. "I think hope the money will go towards what they want to achieve. They don't want another family to go through what they went through."

Attorney John Heenan: "In Montana, a handshake is your contract."

Billings, MT: John Heenan runs a young one-person law shop in Billings, Montana; in a big state with a small population, that means working a broad spectrum of cases. Between college and law school, Heenan worked as a truck driver, fork lift operator, and teamster intern, experience which he says taught him the value of hard work and an honest paycheck. As we'll see, it also taught him whose side he's on.
