A Palm City, Florida man who was reportedly in terrific shape died recently of Tylenol liver failure after he had taken generic forms of the medication as well as ibuprofen for several weeks in a row, reports WPTV.com, a local NBC affiliate.

According to the news provider, 49-year-old Mark Erdman recently became seriously ill and was taken to the hospital by his wife.

"It was then that they said, he's got liver failure and kidney failure and that it was because of the Tylenol," Renee Erdman told the news source.

Mark Erdman reportedly had a toothache, but did not have health insurance, so he attempted to manage the pain by taking up to eight pills per day for a few weeks in a row. Doctors said that Erdman was in need of a liver transplant and sent him to a hospital in the Orlando area, but he was reportedly declared brain dead before he could receive the transplant, according to the news source.

According to the National Center for Biotechnology Information, less serious side effects of taking Tylenol can potentially include rashes, swelling of the face and loss of appetite.
