According to the lawsuits, Doe took a pair of box cutters and began opening boxes in an apparent attempt to steal electronics. The three plaintiffs, Thomas Olson, Martin W. Ellis and Thomas A. Stewart, approached Doe, and Olson told him not to make any threatening moves.
Ignoring Olson's request, Doe made a move towards the man. Olson than restrained Doe's arms in accordance with Wal-Mart policy, says the lawsuits.

The three are seeking back pay and compensation for loss of benefits. In addition, they want to be reinstated to their positions or to receive front pay in lieu of that option.
