North Carolina Man Files Zimmer Durom Cup Lawsuit

Raleigh, NCA North Carolina man has filed a lawsuit over a defective Zimmer Durom Cup hip replacement, Bradenton.com reports.

Following his hip replacement surgery in 2007, 58-year-old Raleigh resident John Chisnell claims he suffered tremendous physical pain and agony because the Durom Cup was not properly attached to his hip bone, according to the lawsuit.

Chisnell claims the pain was constant and interfered with his work as well as sports and other physical activities, the lawsuit said.

In January 2010, Chisnell decided to undergo surgery to replace the defective Durom Cup and that surgery allegedly resulted in his left leg being a half inch longer than his right leg, causing him even more constant pain, according to the suit.

"The pain went on for so long, both the incapacitation from having a bad hip—it went on for over two years before having revision surgery, and now my legs have mismatched length," Chisnell said in the suit. "The implant never healed the way it was advertised. It put my life on hold for two years. It is just wrong for Zimmer to market such a device."

The lawsuit was filed recently in federal court in New Jersey, according to the news provider.
