Housing Authority of Louisville.

A $3.5 million dollar verdict has been found in the lawsuit filed against the Housing Authority of Louisville on behalf of 12-year-old Julius Burns. The suit claimed that the Housing Authority had contributed substantially to the boy's mild retardation by failing to adequately remedy lead-tainted soil in the area where the boy's family lived. The suit alleged that the defendant officials knew the lead-based paint had contaminated the soil but tried to hide the risk from residents. (Jul-15-03) [COURIER-JOURNAL]
