A $43.5 million verdict has been reached in the suit filed by Applied Medical Services. The suit alleged that U.S. Surgical had willfully violated Applied Medical's patent on a sealing mechanism for a trocar, a tube that surgeons insert in patients to handle instruments during laparoscopic surgeries.
