OutKast Rosa Parks Settlement
OutKast. In 1955 Rosa Parks was arrested after she refused to give up her seat to a white man on a segregated Montgomery bus. Martin Luther King Jr. then organized a 381 day bus boycott to change the civil rights law. The music group OutKast used Parks' name and story in a song without her guardian's permission and has since agreed to work with the Rosa and Raymond Parks Institute for Self Development. OutKast and their record label will develop educational programs for youth and will also perform on a Parks tribute CD. (Apr-18-05)
