Staten Island

In 2003, 11 people died after a Staten Island Ferry crashed into the berth docks. Forty year old, John Valinski was one of the 11 and his sister, Christine Santoro, filed a claim against the city on behalf of his estate. Valinski's family has been awarded a $450,000 wrongful death settlement. (May-02-05)
