In December 2001 at the age of 36, Lev Lysniak committed suicide by hanging himself while in jail. Lev's parents filed a lawsuit against the county alleging incompetent personnel were responsible for their son's death; they are set to receive a $190,000 settlement. (May-23-05) [NEWSDAY]
