The center, along with the University Hospital in Tamarac and two doctors have been ordered to pay Charles Pandrea an $8 million settlement for the wrongful death of his wife Janet. The hospital and medical center misdiagnosed Janet with lung cancer and put her on chemotherapy; she developed side effects from the chemo that ultimately led to her death. An autopsy revealed Janet had a benign tumor that could have been operated on, but she did not have cancer. (Jun-11-05) [LOS ANGELES TIMES]
